Location: Hazeldown Road, Teignmouth, Devon
- To produce a complete landscaped garden from plan
- To clear complete garden of lawn, trees and shrubs.
- To construct 3 patios areas and a new raised pond.
- To blend all borders and pathways to fit with the flat patios.
Project Timescale: 6 weeks
- Taking full advantage of sea views.
- A functional and social space.
The Fence: As rain stopped play on the landscaping but typically THIS morning started bright and sunny!
Within a few hours we had the post holes dug, concrete ready, timber ready and off we went!
The fence was angled at 5° to follow the lay of the garden which also gave us the starting point of the Pergola, which we’ll cover later.
Levelling and setting out:
With our ‘Blank Canvas’ cleared, we began the setting out.
We took our Datum line off the corner of the house and pegged it through to the bottom of the garden and sprayed the lines ready for the mini-digger to return in a few days.
The construction begin!!:
This gave us time to set out, dig and start to construct the first pergola.
Mini Digger’s been and gone. Garden graded and the holes dug out for the second pergola. Our painted lime were then re-drawn and the garden starts to take shape.
All the of pathways were to follow the 5° angle of the garden and be lined with brick pavers so a small bed of concrete was put down for the brick to bed down onto and also hold the membrane in place.
With the first pergola constructed and painted, we turfed the lawn area and created it’s surrounding borders.
The second patio area with a curved set up on the the lawn. Just on course left and the backfill with soil under the turf.
The Second Pergola.
And the Third which sits on the third smaller patio area.
The soil/compost mix and the plants arrived a little ahead of schedule so we got out our green fingers and started phase 1 of the planting.
Pathway edging complete and time to start filling them in with stone chippings.
Planting all finished for this year. We will be back for phase 2 after Summer 2017!
